For survivors

How it works — at your pace, on your terms.

You don't have to explain everything. You don't have to use your real name. Here's exactly what happens from the moment you reach out to the moment something arrives in your hands.

Step 01

Verification — gentle, private, your choice of path

Before you post, we confirm you're a survivor. This protects the community and keeps fulfillment fast. You pick the path that feels safest.

Path A — Use a referral code

If you're already working with a partner agency (a shelter, advocacy center, hospital social worker, or victim-services unit), ask them for a Survivor Needs referral code. Enter the code once. You're verified — no questions, no documents.

Codes are anonymous. We never see your file at the agency.

Path B — Talk with a trauma-informed advocate

No referral? No problem. Open a private chat with one of our trained advocates. It's a short conversation — they'll never push for details you're not ready to share. When you're ready, they'll mark you verified on our side.

Available in English and French. Chat closes when you do.

  • We don't store ID, police reports, or medical records.
  • Most verifications finish in under 10 minutes.
  • If chat feels like too much, you can call instead.

Step 02

Posting your need

Once verified, you can post anonymously. Share only what you want the community to know.

  1. 1

    Pick a category.

Groceries, a ride, clothing, housing help, therapy support, legal accompaniment — or 'something else.'

  2. 2

    Describe what would help.

A sentence is enough. ('Diapers size 3 and a bus pass for the week.') You don't need to share why.

  3. 3

    Add a general area (optional).

A city or region helps us match you with nearby supporters. You never share your address publicly.

  4. 4

Set when you need it by (optional).

If something is urgent, say so. If not, leave it open.

Your name, contact, and exact location are never visible on the public board.

Step 03

Fulfillment — the community responds

Verified community members see your need on the board. When someone offers to help, here's what happens.

  • A supporter clicks 'I can help' and commits to your specific need. We pause new offers so the same item isn't duplicated.
  • We notify you privately — through your chosen channel (email, SMS, or in-app). You see who's helping and what they're bringing.
  • You can accept, ask a clarifying question, or decline. Nothing moves forward without your okay.
  • If a supporter goes quiet or backs out, your need automatically returns to the board so others can step in.

Step 04

Pickup — safe, no addresses shared

We never ask supporters and survivors to meet at home addresses. Instead, items move through trusted pickup partners.

Drop-off at a partner site

The supporter brings your items to a verified pickup partner near you — often a shelter, community center, library, or local business that's been screened by our team.

You'll get the address and hours only after you confirm pickup.

Pick it up when it works for you

Most partner sites have flexible hours. Show your pickup code (a short word + number combo we send you). Staff hand you the items — no forms, no questions.

If you can't make it, message us and we'll hold or re-route.

  • Supporters never learn your address, phone, or last name.
  • Pickup partners are background-checked and trauma-informed.
  • After pickup, an advocate checks in — only if you want them to.

Ready when you are.

There's no rush, no minimum, no test to pass. Start with verification — or just request a need and we'll guide you through verification along the way.
